Feb. 8, 1998

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Florida State completed a regular season sweep of Wake Forest with a 63-56 victory in Atlantic Coast Conference women's basketball action today at the joel Coliseum Annex. The win snapped a four-game losing skid for the Seminoles, who improved to 8-15 on the season and 4-9 in the ACC. The Deamon Deacons fell to 4-19 overall and 0-13 in conference play.

The Noles started quickly as Brooke Wyckoff scored six of her game-high 17 points to spark a 14-3 run over the first 5:54 of the first half. Wake came back to close the deficit to 21-19 at intermission, as Heidi Coleman led the Deacs in the half with eight points.

The Seminoles increased their lead to as many as nine in the second period before Wake mounted a comeback. The Deacons closed it to one when Cynthia Kelley hit the front end of a one and one to put the score at 41-40 with 8:01 remaining in the game. That was as close as Wake would get as Florida State hit seven of eight free throws over the final 2:55 to ensure the final margin.

Wyckoff grabbed 12 rebounds to go with her 17 points and Wendy Hampton and 11 points for FSU.

The Deacons were led by freshman Olivia Dardy who scored 13 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. Heidi Coleman and Alisha Mosely added 10 points apiece for Wake.

The Deacons will next be in action on Friday, February 13 at 7:00 when they travel to Georgia Tech, while Florida State host Duke on Sunday, February 15 at 1:00.
