After a distinguished career at Michigan State and four years playing professionally in Europe, Rene Haynes enters her first year as a graduate assistant with the Florida State women's basketball team. A Columbus, Ohio, native, Haynes played for the Spartans from 2003-07, scoring the 12th-most points in school history with 1,181. She also tallied the second-most steals in the MSU annuls (245) and ranked seventh in three-pointers (111) at the end of her career. She was a member of the winningest senior class in school history with 103 victories. She played in 135 games - the most in Spartan history - and averaged 8.7 ppg and 3.5 rpg during her career. As a senior in 2006-07, Haynes earned All-Big Ten Second team and All-Defensive Team honors from the league's coaches. She was an All-Big Ten Third Team selection by the media. Haynes started all 33 games her final season, averaging 10.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg and 3.4 apg. After her collegiate career, Haynes played professionally overseas for FoA in Finland and ProBuld Basketball Club in Amsterdam. |
