The Seminoles had a pressing need for some capable offensive linemen in this signing class and while the coaches probably would have liked to ink a few more, they're certainly pleased with the ones that did put pen to paper in favor of FSU on National Signing Day.

Hoefeld is one of those prospects and he fills a need for the future for 'Noles offensive line coach Rick Trickett.

With Bryan Stork entering his redshirt senior year this season and Austin Barron set to take over for him in 2014 when Barron is a true senior, Florida State's longterm answer at center will likely be Hoefeld.

With a full two years to learn the complexities of Trickett's blocking scheme, get bigger and stronger and soak up as much knowledge from Stork and Barron, Hoefeld's accession up the depth chart and into a starting role should work nicely for the 'Noles.

A three-star prospect according to ESPN, Rivals and 247Sports, Hoefeld was considered by the recruiting services to be a top-10 center nationally. The New Orleans, La. native is known for his aggressiveness and poise at the line of scrimmage where it is the center's duty to help relay information to the rest of the line and the quarterback.

Ryan Hoefeld is considered one of the nation's top center prospects for 2013.

A Jimbo Fisher Camp standout that was offered a scholarship last summer, Hoefeld committed to the Seminoles shortly thereafter on July 2, 2012 citing his relationship with Trickett and the entire coaching staff as the main reason behind his verbal pledge.

Like Ryan McMahon, Stork and Barron before him, Hoefeld fits the mold of Trickett centers: unheralded, hungry, hard working, smart and athletic.

Hoefeld wore No. 78 in high school and could potentially wear those same digits at FSU where no scholarship player currently dons that number.
