FSU Cross Country Teams Travel To Tuscaloosa, Alabama For The Crimson Classic

Sept. 14, 2000

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - This weekend the Florida State Cross Country team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., to participate in the Crimson Classic. The meet will host over 30 teams from around the country, including nationally-ranked South Florida, Tulane, Belmont, and the University of Alabama.

In only her second race for FSU, freshman Amy Pleckaitis looks to lead the Lady Seminoles. Pleckaitis finished in first-place in her first collegiate race two weeks ago in Boone, N.C., at the Appalachian State Invitational. Junior Brooke Bastien has also looked impressive this season, coming in second place at her first meet of the season. Bastien looks to provide high hopes and experience for the Lady Noles this season.

Sophomore Nick Stuart will look to lead the men in this weekend's competition. Stuart came in first place for the Noles at the Appalachian State Invitational. Stuart has also brought experience with him and should improve as the season progresses. Senior Josh Ware will not compete this weekend due to a lower leg injury.

"This will certainly be a great test for our young squad" Coach Braman says. "This meet will determine our standing in the South East, and will allow us to see how far we have come."

The race is scheduled for Saturday morning at, Harry Pritchett Golf Course.
