LAKE BUENO VISTA, Fla. - The Florida State men's tennis team is hosting the inaugural USTA Clay Court Invitational at Disney this weekend at the ESPN Wide World of Sport Complex Friday through Sunday. The team starts with doubles play at 8:00 a.m. The first round of doubles and the round of 32 and 16 singles matches.
The day begins with doubles play with seniors Jordan Kelly-Houston and Anderson Reed competing against Ignat and Rubin of Columbia at 8:00 a.m. while sophomore Dominic Cotrone and Benjamin Lock take on Baughman and Goldhoff of the USTA. Both matches are in the Gold Doubles Draw.
In the Garnet Doubles Draw, senior Andres Bucaro and freshman Michael Rinaldi take on Gladstone and Blasco of UCF at 8:45 a.m. Sophomore Cristian Gonzalez Mendez and redshirt freshman João Gauer take on Jonny Wang of USC and David Orces of The Citadel at 8:45 a.m. as well.
In the Gold Singles Draw, Kelly-Houston kicks off singles play at 9:30 a.m. against Juan Melian of Georgia Tech as a 5-8 seed. Reed takes on 5-8 seed Robert Quiroz of USC at 9:30 a.m. Lock takes on Wang at 10:30 a.m. while Cotrone closes out the draw with an 11:00 a.m. match against Alejandro Espejo Sanchez of Tulsa.
In the Garnet Singles Draw, Rinaldi takes on Gage Brymer of the USTA at 11:30 a.m., the same time Bucaro competes against Orces. Gonzalez Mendez closes on the Garnet draw at 12:00 p.m. against Will Neuner of FAU. The lone Seminole in the Spear draw is Gauer who plays Georgia Tech's Anish Sharma at 12:30 p.m.
Competing in the tournament along with Florida State this weekend is USC, Duke, Cal, Florida, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, UCF, Penn State, Columbia, Tulsa, FAU and The Citadel.
