Florida State set to send nine players to three separate tournaments this weekend.

Tallahassee, Fla.- The Florida State men's tennis team has placed four players in the preseason FILA/ITA singles and doubles rankings.

In the singles rankings, sophomore Jean-Yves Aubone (Miami, Fla.) is the highest ranked Seminole at No. 70. Aubone finished last season with a 20-15 record while finishing the year ranked 77th in the FILA/ITA rankings.

Freshman Clint Bowles (Tampa, Fla.) is ranked 105th to start the season. Arguably the top ranked recruit out of high school, Bowles won the USTA Clay Court National Championships this summer and is expected to make an instant impact for the Seminoles.

On the double's side, senior Sam Chang (Young-Ming, Taiwan) and Maciek Sykut (Marathon, Fla.) are ranked 26th to start the season. Chang ended 2007 ranked 18th in doubles with partner Jonathas Sucupira.

In men's tennis action from the weekend sophomore Michael O'Shea (Boca Raton, Fla.) and senior Jason Hood (Columbia, SC) finished third in the Thomasville Collegiate Invitation at Glen Arven Country Club. The duo defeated a squad from Abraham Baldwin to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to the team from Valdosta State. O'Shea and Hood also competed in singles competition going 1-3 and 1-2 respectively. Hood was a last minute addition to the tournament as sophomore Bobby Deye (Naples, Fla.) was scratched.

Seminole tennis will be back on the courts this weekend with the team competing in three tournaments across the Southeast. Aubone, Bowles, and Chang will head to Athens, Ga. to compete in the Southern Intercollegiate Tournament featuring some of the top players in the country. Juniors Chris Cloer (Brevard, NC), Sykut, and sophomore Brad Mixson will play in the Chapel Hill Fall Invitational held in North Carolina. The trio of O'Shea, Deye and junior Drew Bailey (Tallahassee, Fla.) round out the list of weekend competitors, they will play in a tournament hosted by Rollins College.
