Seminole Men's Tennis Continues Success On Futures Tour

Joplin, Mo.- The Florida State men's tennis team continued its success at summer tournaments with three current Seminoles advancing to the second round at the Futures tournament in Joplin, Mo.

Junior Jean-Yves Aubone continued his torrid play defeating Diego Camacho in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 to advance in first round action. Aubone won last weeks Futures tournament in Peoria, Ill. defeating some of the best collegiate and professional players in the country in the process. Aubone will play the tournament's No. 1 seed, Italy's Adam Biasella on Thursday.

Incoming junior Vahid Mirzadeh won a three-set thriller against LSU's Michael Venus to advance to the second round. After dropping the first set 6-1 Mirzadeh took the final two sets 7-5, 7-6(2) to take the victory. Venus ended the 2008 season ranked No. 31 by the ITA.

In doubles, senior Maciek Sykut teamed with former Seminole Ytai Abougzir to upset the tournament's No. 2 seeds Tigran Martirosyan and Adam Thompson 6-1, 6-2. Sykut and Abougzir next play Wake Forest's Cory Parr and Steve Forman in the quarterfinals. Parr and Forman ended the collegiate season ranked No. 7 by the ITA.
