TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State men's tennis program has several current and former players competing around the world in the ATP Challenger Tour and the ITF Tennis Pro Circuit. Redshirt junior Benjamin Lock's success continues in Turkey where he just won his fourth ATP point, while former All-Americans Jean-Yves Aubone and Connor Smith won a doubles title.

Lock resumes his summer success in Istanbul, Turkey after winning two ATP points in South Africa. Lock advanced to the round of 16 of the Turkey F22 Futures by defeating Ogulcan Deniz (TUR) 6-0, 6-0. Lock's goal of reaching his first quarterfinals in a Futures tournament were stopped by Irishman Sam Barry, who ended up taking the victory in a tight three-set match 7-6(4), 4-6, 7-5. Previously, Lock won three rounds of matches in the qualifying draw.

While Lock is playing in Europe, former Seminoles Aubone and Smith stayed much closer to home in Buffalo, NY. Aubone and Smith entered the doubles tournament as the No. 2 seed and honored their favoritism by advancing to the finals with a 6-2, 6-4 win over the British duo of Ashley Hewitt and Toby Martin. The final match started well for the Seminoles who won the first set 6-3. The momentum turned around in the second set where the British team of Bambridge and Broady took an early lead and ended up forcing a 10 point match tiebreak. Fortunately, Aubone and Smith were able to overcome adversity and win 6-3, 2-6 1-0(10-6) to win the title.

In singles, Aubone reached the quarterfinals where he fell to third seed Henrique Cunha (BRA) 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.

In the upcoming weeks, Benjamin Lock will play the Turkey F23 Futures tournament and senior Cristian Gonzalez Mendez will compete in La Calleja Open in Spain. Also, former Seminoles Jean-Yves Aubone and Vahiz Mirzadeh play in the USA F19 Futures and Padova Challenger in Italy.
