TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Commissioner John Swofford released the Atlantic Coast Conference All-ACC Academic Team for men's tennis on Tuesday with two Seminoles named to the list. Junior Blake Davis, a two-time member, and sophomore Dominic Cotrone are on the 19-member list.
"We're extremely proud of how well the tennis team performed this last year academically," said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. "We're honored that Dominic and Blake were selected to the All-ACC Academic Team. Blake has continued to not only be a good player but made the dean's list this spring and is ambitious in pursuing an MBA. Dominic continues to have outstanding semester both academically and athletically. He was ranked both in singles and doubles rankings and emerged as an outstanding student-athlete for us."
Davis and Cotrone reached the round of 16 at the NCAA Doubles Championships this season and finished ranked No. 12 in the nation.
Davis is one of only four student-athletes as a repeat selection. He came back from a back injury to post a 7-7 mark in singles. Ranked No. 84 by the ITA, Cotrone finished the season with a 27-15 mark with his best win coming against the No. 31 player in the nation.
The student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.0 cumulative average during his career. The duo was 15-4 on the season.
