FSU Men's Tennis Hits The Road

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The 47th-ranked Florida State Seminoles will travel to Tampa on Sunday to face the 69th-ranked South Florida Bulls. The match with the Bulls is the first in a three-match road trip that will conclude the season for the Noles. FSU's overall record is 11-8 and 3-4 in the ACC, while USF's overall record is 9-13 and 2-2 in Conference USA.

Senior Mike Ingham is concluding his four-year tennis career at Florida State as one of the winningest Seminoles in school history. Overall, Ingham is 15-12 as a senior and has won 82 of 122 single's matches during his career. In the past three weeks, Ingham has upset two top 50 ranked players and and is riding a three-match ACC winning streak.

In Wednesday's 4-3 loss to South Alabama, Florida State's No. 1 singles player, sophomore Xavier Luscan, clinched one of the three Seminole points with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over South Alabama's No. 1 player Julien Raynal. Luscan's victory improved his record at the No. 1 position to 13-6 and his home record to 10-2. Securing the second point of the match for FSU was sophomore Noah Schnell at the No. 4 position by a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to improve his record to 9-10 this spring. The third Nole win was captured by freshman Rodrigo Laub by a score of 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 over South Alabama. The victory raised Laub's season record at No. 6 singles to 8-4.

Florida State is 2-5 on the road this season with wins against New Mexico (4-3) and Maryland (7-0). The Seminoles have dropped matches on the road to Texas Christian (1-6), Texas (0-7), Clemson (2-5), Florida (0-7) and Virginia (3-4). In the past 10 years, Florida State has defeated South Florida in 1991 by a score of 6-3 and again in 1994 by a score of 5-2. Following the match against South Florida on Sunday, April 9th, the Tribe will battle Furman in Greenville, S.C. on April 15th and Georgia Tech in Atlanta on April 16th to conclude their regular season.
