TALLAHASSEE, FL.--The Florida State men's tennis team will be in action on Saturday, March 17th at 1:00 p.m., when they host the 11th-ranked Texas Longhorns in dual match competition. This will mark the third meeting between the two schools with Texas leading the all-time series against the Noles, 2-0.
The Seminoles, lead by the nation's 99th-ranked player Xavier Luscan, stand at 6-7 for the season while the Texas Longhorns, lead by No. 38 Jean Simon, enter tomorrow's match with an 8-2 overall record.
Florida State head coach Dwayne Hultquist is no stranger to the Longhorns. He served as an assistant under legendary coach Dave Snyder at Texas for eight seasons prior to arriving in Tallahassee. One of coach Hultquists immediate goals for FSU was to strengthen the schedule and provide for upward movement in the rankings, something he has been able to accomplish in only his second year at Florida State.
"Playing Texas is very exciting," Hultquist said. "They are traditionally a top ten team and I think it is good for us to have them on our home courts. We will obviously have to play very well to compete with Texas, but our guys are eager to get out there for this match."
After taking on Texas, the Florida State men's tennis team will prepare to host ACC rival Maryland on Sunday March 18th at 1:00p.m.
