TALLAHASSEE, FL.--The Florida State men's tennis team are preparing to host the University of Virginia on Saturday March 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The match marks the 17th meeting between the two teams as Florida State leads the all-time series against Virginia 10-6.
The Seminoles climbed one place in the latest national poll and are now ranked No. 54 with a 4-5 record on the season. The Cavaliers enter the competition ranked No. 38, but they also bring the nations top-ranked doubles team of Huntley Montgomery and Brian Vahaly. Florida State's talented tandem of Gustav Bucht and Alex Herrera currently hold 31st place in the ITA doubles rankings and are looking to upset the Cavaliers.
"This is a great opportunity for us to measure our strength against a very good Virginia team in the ACC opener," said FSU head coach Dwayne Hultquist. "It's definitely going to be a close and exciting match and I encourage fans to come out and cheer us on."
After the match against Virginia, the men's tennis team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 6th at 3:30 p.m. when they take on the visiting Vanderbilt Commodores.
