TALLAHASSEE, FL.--The Florida State men's tennis team finished strong in the Seminole Spring Tournament, defeating Troy State 4-3 on the final day. With this win the Seminoles move to 3-0 in the all-time series against the Trojans and 4-4 on the season.
After dropping the doubles point, Florida State needed to take home four out of six singles matches for the win. Rodrigo Laub at No. 6 singles did not waste any time against Troy State's Mark Prior and won 6-4, 6-0. FSU's Jarrod Owen played No. 4 singles and won in straight sets over Jody Kane, 6-4, 7-5. Xavier Luscan at the No. 1 singles position for FSU rallied from behind to get the 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Willy Campos. Clinching the match for the Seminoles was No. 5 Jeff Scarella with a 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 win over Matias Mosso.
Georgia State and Central Florida battled for first place in the Seminole Spring Tournament with Georgia State coming out on top, 4-3. Clinching the match for the Panthers was Carl Lumsden at the No. 1 singles position. He defeated UCF's Federico Camacho 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.
The Florida State men's tennis team will now prepare for rival Miami as they are scheduled to travel to Coral Gables for a match-up with the Hurricanes on Saturday February 24th at 1:30 PM.
