No. 12 Florida State Men's Tennis Host No. 8 Florida This Saturday

Feb. 14, 2007

Tallahassee, Fla. - In-state rivals face off this Saturday, February 17 as the No. 12 Florida State Seminoles men's tennis squad hosts the No. 8 Florida Gators. Match time is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. The two teams last met in the Elite Eight of the 2005 NCAA Championship as the No.3 Gators ended the No. 18 Seminoles Cinderella-run in the tournament with the 4-0 victory on May 22, 2005.

Live Stats of the match will be available to viewers on www.seminoles.com during the match.

This will be the first dual match Florida State has seen in two weeks after the Seminoles collected their first losses on the road against No.11 Notre Dame and No.3 Ohio State leaving the overall season record at 5-2. Florida earned their first loss of the season on Tuesday night in Champaign, Illinois against No. 7 Illinois 6-1. With this loss, Florida now holds an overall 3-1 season record.

Stick around for the halftime show as Florida State Athletics holds the first ever CELEBRITY TENNIS MATCH*, including FSU students David Robinson, Britney Murphy, Jeff Gordon, and a mystery FSU Football Star who will be on hand to play a doubles match during intermission. Don't miss this historic event in FSU Athletics and as always, admission is free.

*Celebrities mentioned are actually FSU students with famous names.
