TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 37 Florida State men's tennis team (9-1) takes on No. 7 Oklahoma (4-0) Friday at 5 p.m. at the Indoor Tennis Facility. The match opens the USTA College MatchDay schedule which highlights the best men's and women's teams each week during the season.
"We're excited to play in the first College Match Day of the year," said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. "We're playing a very good team in Oklahoma with them being one of the best teams in the country with multiple ranked players. We have a great team and a great venue and can't wait to showcase that on ESPN3."
Fans will be able to attend the event at the Indoor Facility which is located at 2566 Pottsdamer Rd. near the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course. Fans will receive free Chick-fil-A and programs.
The match will be aired on ESPN3 and is one of only three ACC men's tennis matches broadcasted this year.
"It really motivates our guys having fans there," continued Hultquist. "Their energy and enthusiasm on the court really make it a fun and exciting atmosphere for our players."
The Seminoles feature junior Cristian Gonzalez Mendez and freshman Grayson Goldin who have both won 10 straight matches. Junior Dominic Cotrone, who plays in the first position, has an 8-2 record this spring while senior Blake Davis is 6-2.
Oklahoma has four ranked players in No. 5 Guillermo Alcorta, No. 6 Axel Alvarez Llamas, No. 37 Andrew Harris and No. 40 Dane Webb.
