"Benjamin played well and is gaining momentum each day," said associate coach Nick Crowell. "He is serving big and running a lot of extra balls down. He is fit and ready to make another run tomorrow."

In doubles play, Nunez and Lock received first round byes to compete in the second round on Tuesday. The duo faced Cale Hammond and Fred Saba of Duke to win 8-3. They need to win two matches on Wednesday to advance to the main draw of doubles. They take on Virginia's Harrison Richmond and Justin Shane at 9 a.m.
