March 14, 1998 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- At Scott Speicher Tennis Center, No. 35 Florida State recorded a 6-1 victory over Tennessee-Chattanooga. The FSU men won the doubles point as well as five of the six singles matches to move to 10-2 on the season (1-1 ACC). Alex Golub picked up an easy 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles over Genius Chidzikwe and the Seminoles also won in straight sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles behind the solid play of Ty Braswell and Yvo Nikes. Braswell downed Craig Hawkins 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 and Niks defeated Vinicius Carmo 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3. FSU's Mike Ingham and Davidson Kozlowski needed three sets in their wins over Jesse Joe Koti at No. 4 (6-2, 2-6, 7-5) and Jordan Goetzman at No. 6 (6-2, 2-6, 6-4). Tennessee-Chattanooga's lone point came at No. 5 singles where Fungai Munjanja narrowly defeated FSU's Jay Travis 6-7, 6-4, 6-2. In doubles action, Niks and Kozlowski teamed up for an 8-5 win at No. 2 while Ingham and Chad Mooney won at No. 3 by the score of 8-4 to give the Seminoles the point.
