Feb. 14, 1998 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- The No. 36-ranked Florida State Seminole tennis team defeated visiting Southern Mississippi, 6-1, this afternoon at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center. With the win, the Seminoles improve their record to 6-0. Four of FSU's five singles victories saw two-set matches including Yvo Niks, who remains perfect with a 6-0 record with his 6-2, 6-0 win over USM's Mark Fulmer. Number 2 singles player Alex Golub rebounded from a 3-6 start to take the next two sets 6-3, 6-2. FSU's only loss of the day was Michael Ingham's three-set loss to Toby Simpson. It was Ingham's first defeat of the season. Florida State's number one doubles team of Ty Braswell and Niks, ranked 12th regionally, improved to 6-0 with their 9-8 victory.
