Jan. 30, 1998 TALLAHASSEE, Fl -- The Florida State men's tennis team defeated Jacksonville University 6-1 Friday at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center to run their dual-match record to 2-0 on the season. Leading the way was No. 1 singles player Ty Braswell, who defeated Matt Dektas in straight sets 6-0, 6-3. Braswell also teamed with Yvo Niks to defeat Dektas and Bram Tukker 8-2 at No. 1 doubles. Niks won his No. 2 singles match by beating Miko Stocker 6-2, 6-1. In other singles action, No. 3 Michael Ingham beat Addams England 6-2, 7-6. No. 6 Jay Travis defeated Hart Pollack 7-5, 6-1. Jay Slattery of Jacksonville was victorious over Gerald Casas 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles. In three sets, No. 6 Davidson Kozlowski held on to beat Bram Tukker 6-7, 6-3, 7-5. Doubles action saw No. 2 Kozlowski and Golub defeat Pollack and England 8-3 and No.3 Travis and Mooney beat Stocker and Juan Cabrera 8-5. The next match is tomorrow, Saturday, against Old Dominion at 2:00 p.m.
