Florida State Men And Women Finish Third At Georgia Invitational

Dec. 3, 2000

ATHENS, Ga. - The Seminole's swimming and diving teams returned home from the Georgia Invitational in Athens with both the men and women finishing third overall against a strong field of competitors. FSU completed day three with two first place finishes, eight top 5 finishes and eight top 10 finishes. For the entire meet, Florida State garnered six first place finishes and 38 top 5 finishes.

Greg Main-Baillie continued to lead the men's team with his third and fourth top finishes in individual and team events. Main-Baillie placed first in the 100 free with a time of :44.37 and teammate Nnamnse Ammons came in second with a time of :45.19. Main-Baillie and Ammons were also part of the Noles first place 400 free relay team (Main-Baillie, Ammons, McReynolds, Marshburn) who out-distanced the field with a time of 2:59.62.

The women were lead by the 400 free relay team (Lo, Goodwin, Cucchi, Rasor) who's time of 3:25.38 was good enough for a second place finish. In the women's 100M free, Christy Cech also placed second with a time of :49.36. Three other Lady Noles finished the third day of competition with top 5 finishes. In the 200M back, Amber Goodwin placed fifth with a time of 2:50.82. Kristen Adams' time of :51.59 placed her fifth in the 100M free and Keryn Krynauw placed fifth in the 200M beast with a time of 2:17.81.

The women finished the Georgia Invitational with 682 points finished in third place behind top-ranked Georgia (1251) and Clemson (728) and ahead of NC State (504) and Florida Atlantic (277). The men's swimming and diving team also finished third overall and accumulated 621.5 points through three days of competition. Minnesota (1039) captured first place followed by the 14th-ranked Bulldogs (1031) then FSU, Georgia Tech (491), NC State (338.5), Clemson (170) and Florida Atlantic (128).
