Florida State Men And Women Enter Final Day of Georgia Invitational In Third Place

ATHENS, Ga - The Florida State men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed second day action in the Georgia Invitational on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens. FSU completed day two with two first place finishes, 15 top 5 finishes and seven top 10 finishes. Both squads also ended the day in the top 3 of the team standings.

The woman have compiled 475 points through two days of competition and are currently in third place behind Georgia (889) and Clemson (518) and ahead of NC State (368) and Florida Atlantic (179). The men's swimming and diving team racked up 449 points in two days of competition and was third overall heading into the final day of competition Sunday. The 14th-ranked Bulldogs held on to first place with 709 points followed by Minnesota (703), FSU, Georgia Tech (335), NC State (210), Florida Atlantic (101) and Clemson (99).

Devin Crock recorded one of FSU's two first place finishes with a time of :48.61 in the 100 fly. The Seminoles other first place finisher was diver Chelsie Lerew who recorded a score of 299.55 in the 1M dive.
 

 

Florida State also recorded 15 top 5 finishes during day two of competition. The men's 200M medley relay team (Main-Baillie, Betts, Crock, Ammons) finished second in a time of 1:30.19. In the women's 200M fly, FSU's Candice Nethercott took second with a time of :55.65.

The women's 200M medley relay team FSU A (Goodwin, Krynauw, Nethercott, Cech) took third place in a time of 1:44.53 and Joshua Edelman placed third in the 3M dive with 485.50 points. Michelle Sekeres (FSU) also placed third with 249.30 in the 1M dive. Christy Cech's time of 1:48.45 in the 200 free was also good enough for a third place finish. FSU's 800M free relay team (Bell Cech, Adams, Lo) took third in a time of 7:40.97 and men's swimmer Justin Betts took third in the 100M breast with a time of :56.31.

The final day of the Georgia Fall Invitational begins at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with prelims and will be followed at 3 p.m. with finals. The teams return to action at the IRCC Relays in Ft. Pierce, Fla. December 21.
