FSU Swimming Teams Host Georgia Tech And North Florida
Oct. 27, 2000 TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -
The Florida State men's and women's swimming
and diving teams are back in action at home this weekend. The men will
host Georgia Tech, while the women will swim against the University of
North Florida. Both meets will be held on Saturday, October 28th at 10
a.m. at the Stults Aquatic Center on the Florida State campus.
Saturday's meet will be the first time that the 2-0 Lady Seminoles
will be facing UNF. The North Florida women's swimming and diving program
is competing in its inaugurial season with head coach Beth Harrell leading
the Osprey charge. The Osprey are 0-1 on the young season.
"For the women, North Florida is a young program and I don't
expect our ladies to be tested too many times," Harper said. "But this
will be a great opportunity for us to get more competition in and see how
our depth is heading into Arizona next week. It will give us an idea of
who's stepping up and swimming well."
Last season, the Seminole men's team defeated Georgia Tech in
Atlanta, winning by the score of 210 - 88. Both FSU and Georgia Tech enter
Saturday's meet with a 2-0 record.
The Noles will travel to Tempe, Ariz., next weekend where the men
will face-off against Arizona and SMU, while the women will compete against
the Lady Wildcats.
