Rowin Caron was born in Terheijden, Netherlands. He attended Regionale Scholengemeenschap `t Rijks where he began to polish his already stellar golfing skills. Caron finished fourth in the U.S. Junior Masters championship in 2010. He won the Zomerwedstrijd International Men's championship just two years later. Caron continues to remain focused, both in his athletics and academics. When he does get some free time he enjoys listening to music, working out and playing more golf. He comes to Florida State after turning away offers from several other premier D1 Schools. I had the chance to speak with Rowin while he was hitting some balls on the driving range. Here's what he had to say.

What did you learn from your first collegiate tournament?
I learned a lot, especially about the courses. They're a lot different from what they're like in Europe. The grass is different, so playing in that first tournament helped me to get a feel for what the courses are like. I didn't play my best golf, but it was a learning experience.

What's one strength of your game, as well as one thing you want to improve?
I'm striking the ball really well. I'm hitting a lot of good shots--it's just that my score sometimes isn't indicating that. I'm really trying to improve my putting. The different greens here in the States can be tricky.

Which golfer do you find it most exciting to watch?
I'd say the most exciting golfer now would be Rory McIlroy. I love watching Tiger, but lately his inconsistencies have been plaguing him. Also, the way Tiger gets angry with himself makes it not quite as fun to watch as it used to be.

Do you have any weird pre-round quirks or rituals?
Before I came to Florida State, if I was wearing a jacket in the morning and I was playing well--even if it got hot out I'd keep the jacket on. I didn't really care how much I'd sweat, as long as I kept playing well. Now I've sort of given that whole thing up.

What are the last 3 songs you played on your iPod?
That's a tough one. They're house music, I know that much. A lot of the stuff I listen to is foreign. I don't listen to top 40 in the states. But, the last two I can remember listening to are `Tommy Trash: Reload' and `Chocolate Puma & Gregor Salto: Gimme Sum'.
