By: Patrick O'Neill, FSU Sports Information Intern

Cristobal Del Solar was born in Reñaca, Chile on October 11th, 1993. Not long after birth, at the age of three, Cristobal picked up a club and started playing golf. A dual citizen of Chile and Germany, Cristobal is extremely effective off the tee, which will allow him to shorten even some of the longest courses that he will play during his career at Florida State. He has proven his abilities by winning both the 2009 and 2010 Chilean Jr. Open tournaments. Cristobal received offers from six other top Universities before committing to Florida State. The Seminoles are expecting big things from him next season. Seminoles.com spoke with the Chilean native recently. Here's what he had to say.

Name one strength of your game, as well as one thing you'd like to improve upon this year?
I think my Irons are getting better. I had a rough start the first few weeks, but they're certainly improving now that I'm getting used to this terrain. One weakness I've had is my putting. I need to improve on that this season.

So you represented Chile in the world amateurs in October. How did it feel to represent your country in such a prestigious event?
It's always nice to represent your country. It's my first World-Am representing Chile. It's nice playing with other guys, some of whom are better than you, some of whom are on the same level--It's a great challenge.

What's one thing your teammates don't know about you?
I wanted to be a Tennis Pro before transitioning to golf. It also wasn't the only sport I played in Chile. I played rugby, soccer, and a bunch of other weird sports.

Which pro golfer would you most like to emulate, and why?
Since I was a little kid my idol was Tiger Woods. He plays with a lot of passion and that's something I really admire.

What's the best part about living in Tallahassee?
I have some great friends here. Basically my only American friends live here, so I wouldn't want to be anywhere else in the States.
