Golf Opens At Olympia Fields
Seminoles travel to Fighting Illini Invitational to open fall season.

Florida State opens its fall season as it travels to play in the 2011 Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational on the North Course at the Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill. Sept. 16-18, 2011. The Seminoles are schedule to play against 10 of the nation's top 25 ranked teams - including three of the top five and six of the top 10 teams - in the first national poll of the year by GolfWorld Magazine. The 16 team field will play three rounds of 18 holes to determine both team and individual champions. Florida is the defending team champion while Peter Uihlein of Oklahoma State returns to defend his individual championship.
THE OLYMPIA FIELDS INVITATIONAL FIELD
Florida State is joined by No. 2 Oklahoma State, No. 3 Alabama, No. 5 Texas, No. 7 Florida, No. 8 Duke, No. 9 Auburn, No. 12 Stanford, No. 13 Illinois, No. 20 Ohio State, No. 22 Augusta State, Arizona State, Northwestern, Indiana and Notre Dame in the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational. The event will be played at the Olympia Fields Country Club on the North Course - Par 70, 7,205 yards. The event will be played on the same course, same tee and hole locations as were played during the 2003 U.S. Open. Jim Furyk won his first professional major championship as he won the title at the 2003 U.S. Open.
KOEPKA NAMED TO GOLFWORLD'S 50 COLLEGE PLAYERS TO WATCH IN 2012
Senior Brooks Koepka was named to the list of "Top 50 College Players To Watch in 2011-12" by GolfWorld editor Ryan Herrington. Koepka is one of seven players on the list and one of 21 seniors named to the list.
SEMINOLES RETURN TO OLYMPIA FIELD FOR FIFTH CONSECUTIVE SEASON
Florida State will make its fifth consecutive appearance in the Olympia Fields / Fighting Illini Invitational. The Seminoles have earned two top five (fourth place in 2007) and three top 10 team finishes since 2007 when they first appeared in the event. Senior Brooks Koepka, who returns for his fourth career Olympia Fields Invitational, averages 74.22 strokes in nine previous rounds with a pair of 72's in both 2008 and 2009. Including Koepka, four of the five Seminoles playing in this weekend's event have playing experience as Florida State player on this course.

TRIO OF SEMINOLES PLAYED AT U.S. AMATEUR DURING SUMMER OF 2011
Three of Florida State's current golfers - Kyle Cobb, Wesley Graham and Brooks Koepka -- all played in this summer's 111th U.S. Amateur Championship. None of the three advanced to match play but all three played well on the national stage. Graham and Koepka missed the cut by only two strokes as both players carded scores of 71 during second round play. Cobb finished with a two round total of 153 after carding a 75 in his first round.
COBB NAMED TO ALL-ACC ACADEMIC GOLF TEAM
Graduate student Kyle Cobb was named to the All-ACC Academic Golf Team as well as the Capital One Academic All-District 3 Second Team as voted on by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) following the 2011 season.
