TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Both current and former Florida State men's golfers have been busy this summer. Most notably have been former Seminoles Jonas Blixt and Brooks Koepka who both competed at The Open Championships last week.
Playing at Muirfield is always a challenge, but Blixt and Koepka both stepped up to the challenge. Koepka missed the cut at shooting a 14-over 156 in two rounds. Blixt had a strong first day with a 72 but followed up with a 78 in the second round to barely make the cut.
Making up for Friday, Blixt came back with a 73 in the third round, and did damage with five birdies on Sunday to move up 37 spots with a 69. He finished the tournament tied for 26th with a four day total of 8-over 292.
Also competing overseas were both current Seminoles Rowin Caron and Cristobal Del Solar at the Dutch Junior Open in The Netherlands at the Golfclub Toxandria. Caron finished the four day tournament tied for seventh with a 3-under 285. One stroke behind him was Del Solar tied for ninth.
At the 67th Florida Open Championships, former Seminole Chase Seiffert finished tied for third with a 9-under 207.
Coming up July 29 is the Web.com Tour's Mylan Classic at the Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, Pa. The tournament is accepting 12 All-Americans from this past season so former Seminole Daniel Berger will compete in the tournament.
