TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 19 Florida State men's golf team is set to tee off at the ACC Championship this weekend at the Old North State Club in New London, North Carolina. The 12 ACC teams are competing in the three-day event at the par 72 course. The Seminoles tee off at 10:20 a.m. with Wake Forest and Clemson.
"We're going to have to play the Old North State Club and have to play it the best we can," said head coach Trey Jones. "It's a fun golf course and it's one that's not going to overpower the guys. The course will have some tricky hole locations and you'll have to be precise with them. We can get up there and make our adjustments to the grasses and the weather and play our way."
The Seminoles are returning three players to the ACC Championship this year including sophomores Hank Lebioda and Rowin Caron. Lebioda finished tied for tenth last season while Caron was tied for 29th. Senior Joaquin Lolas played in 2011 when he finished tied for 26th.
This semester Maguire leads the team with a 68.93 stroke average and has two individual wins, the USF Invitational and the Mason Rudolph Championship. Lebioda finished tied for first at the Gator Invitational and second at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. Caron's best finish of the year was at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate when he placed fifth. Del Solar finished fourth at the USF Invitational while Lolas finished tied for third at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
