TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State plays host to the annual Seminole Intercollegiate men's golf tournament at Golden Eagle Country Club March 10-11 in Tallahassee. The event is the jewel of the Seminoles' schedule and marks their only home event of the year. Florida State has won the event a record 11 times and five Seminoles have won the individual title. Among the Seminole individual winners are Nolan Henke (1985 and 1987) and Brian Kamm (1984). North Carolina won the team title and Graeme McDonald of Alabama Birmingham won the individual title at last year's event.

THE 2003 SEMINOLE INTERCOLLEGIATE PARTICPIANTS Florida State is joined by Alabama Birmingham, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Georgia State, Kentucky, North Carolina, North Florida, Northwestern, Old Miss, South Carolina, South Carolina-Aiken, Tennessee, Virginia and Wake Forest in the Seminole Intercollegiate. The event will be played on the par 72/6635 yard Golden Eagle Country Club Course in Tallahassee.

THE 2002 SEMINOLE INTERCOLLEGIATE RESULTS North Carolina recovered from three strokes down entering the third round and won going away by five strokes over the University of Alabama Birmingham at the 2002 Seminole Intercollegiate at Golden Eagle Country Club. The Tar Heels begin the final round three strokes behind Duke and posted their best single round score of the tournament, a 29 to claim the team championship. Senior Graeme McDowell of UAB shot a 10-under par score of 206 to win the individual championship. Current Seminole senior Peter Mitchell (Miami, Fla.) led Florida State as he finished in a career-best ninth place in the individual standings. He was strong in the second and third rounds with scores of 70 and 71 and finished with an even-par score of 216. Sophomore Eric Beaty (Germantown, Tenn.) led a trio of Seminoles who finished with identical scores of 232. Beaty shot a tournament-best 72 in the second round. He finished tied with former Rick Westbrook (Alto, Ga.) and junior Alan Beers (Midlothian, Va.) Junior Brad Lusenhop (Gloversville, N.Y.) also played well for the Seminoles.

FLORIDA STATE IN THE 2003 MERCEDES BENZ COLLEGIATE CHAMPIONSHIP Sophomore Matt Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) led Florida State as he finished in a tie for 54th place in the 12th annual Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra, Fla. Adcock finished tournament-play with a team-best total score of 226. His best performance of the event came in the second round as he tied his career-low score of 73. The Seminoles finished in 15th place in the team standings. Augusta State cruised to win the event after leading the scoreboard by 10 strokes at the end of the first two rounds of the championship tournament.

PUTTING FOR BIRDIES WITH THE SEMINOLES... ...Senior Peter Mitchell tied his career-low score with a 70 in the second round of the season-opening Gator Invitational and finished in a tie for 22nd-place in the event. He has carded three scores of 70 during his career including one during the 2002 Seminole Intercollegiate; ...Freshman Adam Wallace (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) has competed in four consecutive tournaments including both events this spring for the Seminoles. He has carded a career-low score of 72 twice - during the Gary Koch/Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate and the Coca Cola Tournament of Champions during the fall season. ...Junior Brad Lusenhop finished in a tie for 37th-place at the Gator Invitational to open the spring 2003 season. He has now earned 11 top-50 career finishes.
