PONTE VEDRA, Fla. - Florida State senior golfer Peter Mitchell led the Seminoles, as he finished the day in a tie for 45th place in individual standings at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships at the Sawgrass Country Club in Ponte Vedra, Fla. As a team, Florida State finished the day in 15th place. The tournament, consisting of 15 teams, will conclude Tuesday, February 18th.
Augusta State finished the day in first place after recording a score of 566 in the first two rounds of the tournament. The leading score for Augusta State came from freshman James Heath, who finished in 2nd place with a score of 138.
Mitchell (Miami, Fla.), with a score of 149 after the first two rounds of the tournament, finished the first day of tournament play as the highest-ranked Seminole. Mitchell's first round score of 72 was a team best.
Sophomore Matt Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) finished the day in a tie for 51st place with a score of 150 after the first two rounds. In the second round, Adcock recorded a career-tying low score of 73.
Freshman Adam Wallace (Ponte Vedra, Fla.) looked impressive as he returned home for the 15-team tournament. Wallace shot 151 on the day and finished in a tie for 57th place.
Brad Lusenhop (Gloversville, NY) finished the day in a tie for 64th place, as he recorded scores of 79 and 74 in the first two rounds of play.
With a score of 154, Tim Vickers (Alpharetta, Ga.) finished the day in a tie for 67th place.
The Seminoles will complete play at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, Tuesday, before hosting the annual Seminole Intercollegiate March 10-11 at Golden Eagle Golf Course.
