TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 22 Florida State men's golf team joins 13 other schools at the Gator Invitational to start the spring season. The teams start play on Saturday with 36 holes and then close out the tournament with 18 on Sunday at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the campus of the University of Florida.
"The guys are tired of playing at home and playing against each other," said head coach Trey Jones. "They are ready to get on the road and see how it goes. I'm thinking our freshmen aren't as young as there were when they arrived here last fall. This team is good enough to compete to win but the young guys need to put themselves in opportunities to win."
Florida State is joined by No. 8 UCF, No. 11 UAB, No. 21 Vanderbilt, No. 23 Arkansas, host Florida, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Lamar, Liberty, Mercer and North Florida on the 70 par 6,701 yard course.
Last year the Seminoles won the tournament for the first time in school history with former Seminole Daniel Berger taking home the individual title.
Playing in the line-up this weekend are sophomores Rowin Caron and Hank Lebioda along with freshmen Jack Maguire, Josh Lee and Cristobal Del Solar. Freshman Harry Ellis makes his debut while playing as an individual.
