TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 23 Florida State men's golf team opens the spring season at the SunTrust Gator Invitational this weekend at the Mark Bostick Golf Course on the campus of the University of Florida. The two-day event features 54 holes of stroke play at the par 70, 6,701 yard course. The teams tee off at 8:00 a.m. in the 14 team field.
"We have a team that has prepared well and is excited to play," said head coach Trey Jones. "The key for us this week is to be patient. This golf course will challenge your discipline and short game. Bringing two freshmen and a sophomore to any tournament brings some challenges regarding patience and discipline. The good thing is these are very talented underclassmen."
Berger is coming off his best finish at Florida State after finishing tied for second at the Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational this past fall. Letson is playing in his fourth tournament of the year and looks to close out his senior season playing in top form. Seiffert is also in his last season and finished tied for third at the Inverness Intercollegiate this fall.
Caron just returned from the Jones Cup last weekend where the freshman finished tied for fourth. Lebioda had his best tournament at the Olympia Fields/Illini Invitational where he finished in a tie for 17th.
The Seminoles are part of a 14-team field that includes four teams in the top 25. Florida State joins No. 4 Florida, No. 12 Arkansas, No. 21 Liberty, Georgia Southern, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lamar, Memphis, Mississippi State, North Florida, South Alabama, UAB and UCF.
