Mosley Leads Seminole Men's Golf Team At Isleworth Collegiate

Oct. 25, 2004

WINDERMERE, Fla. - Florida State senior Rusty Mosley is in a tie for 27th place in the individual standings and will begin play in the third and final round of the Inaugural Isleworth Collegiate Invitational only six strokes from the top-10 when play resumes Tuesday morning. Mosley led the Seminoles through the first two rounds with a one-over par 73 in the first round and a six-over par total of 150 for the first 36 holes. Florida State, which is in 15th place after the first two rounds, is within 12 strokes of jumping into the top-10 of the team standings.

Georgia (the nation's fifth ranked team) leads Georgia Tech (the nation's second ranked team) by two strokes in the team standings heading into the final round. The Yellow Jackets made up seven strokes in the second round with a 283 team score - the best team score of the day. Roberto Castro of Georgia Tech, Pablo Martin of Oklahoma State and Matt Every of Florida are tied for first in the individual standings with identical scores of seven-under par 137.

Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) led the Seminoles with a one-over par 73 in round one and was in a tie for 17th place after the first 18 holes. It marked the fourth time in seven rounds this fall that Mosley had carded a score of 73 or better. Mosley averaged 70.67 stokes in three rounds to finish in a tie for ninth at the Mason Rudolph Collegiate Classic in September.

Senior captain Matt Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) played consistently through the first two rounds with a 75 in the first round and a 76 in the second round. He is in a tie for 34th place in the individual standings with a seven-over par total of 151. Adcock, too, is within striking distance of the top 10 and is only seven strokes from the top 10 and even par golf for the event. In four events this fall, Adcock has carded nine of 11 single round scores at 76 or better.

A pair of newcomers to the Seminole roster - junior Jacob Davis (DeLand, Fla.) and sophomore Jonas Blixt (Nassjo, Sweden) - played well and have the chance to earn strong individual finishes over the final 18 holes of the event. In addition, sophomore Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ky.) can finish strong with a solid final round score.

"The golf course played very hard today as evidenced by the scores that were turned in," said Head Coach Trey Jones. "We have to show more discipline on a course like this and I saw a lot of signs pointing in that direction today. Our players are doing a lot of good things and with more learning and hard work we will continue to become better golfers."
