CARMEL, Ind. -The Florida State men's golf team finished fourth at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate on Tuesday with a 23-over 887, 12 strokes behind first place Arkansas in the 14 team field. The Seminoles finish the fall next week at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational.
"We got outplayed on the last nine holes today," said head coach Trey Jones. "Our start gave us a chance to win but we didn't execute coming down the finish. If our players learn from the experience of contending to win a golf course then we are moving in the right direction. It is easy to see why Crooked Stick has hosted major golf championships."
Caron, a sophomore, had a 75 today and finished the tournament with a 4-over 220, eight strokes behind first place finisher Sebastian Cappelen of Arkansas. Freshman Jack Maguire finished the tournament tied for eighth with a 5-over 221. He finished the day with two birdies.
Cristobal Del Solar finished the tournament tied for 17th after posting a 4-over 76 on Tuesday. The freshmen posted four birdies on the day to make up for a double bogey on the 10th.
Freshman Josh Lee moved up 22 spots after posting a 1-over 73. He finished the day with four birdies to finish the tournament with a 13-over 229 to finish tied for 29th. Freshman Anthony Alex finished tied for 25th with a 12-over 228.
