Florida State University sophomore Brooks Koepka carded a second round 69 and is in a tie for fifth place in the individual standings and the No. 6 ranked Florida State men's golf team is in a tie for seventh place after two rounds of the Brickyard Intercollegiate at the Brickyard Golf Course at Riverside. Koepka and the Seminoles are within striking distance of the individual and team leaders entering Monday's final round of play.
No. 21 ranked Augusta State is leading the team competition and is the only team playing under par golf entering the final round of play. The Jaguars finished with the best team score in round one and the second best team score in round two. Russell Henley of Georgia, who carded a 65 in Sunday's second round, is the individual leader with a 10-under par score of 134. He currently holds a seven stroke lead over Florida State's Koepka.
Koepka (Wellington, Fla.) played an extremely consistent round with three birdies and 15 holes of par as he carded his score of three under par 69. He was even par with nine holes of par on his front nine and three-under par with three birdies on his back nine. Koepka birdied his 10th hole and remained under par for the rest of the round. After carding an even par 72 in the first round, Koepka has a 141 total for the first 36 holes of the event.
Senior Seath Lauer (Huntington, Ind.) and junior Drew Kittleson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) in both tied for 35th place with two-round scores of 147. Lauer carded a 74 in the second round with Kittleson finished with a 73. Both golfers have carded identical scores of 73 and 74 in the first two rounds of the event.
Freshman Doug Letson (Orlando, Fla.) and Michael Hebert (Orlando, Fla.) carded scores of 77 and 76 respectively in the second round.
Sophomore Wesley Graham (Port Orange, Fla.), who is competing as an individual, carded a three-under par 69 and has a two-day total of 143. He is competing for the individual championship but is not counted toward the team score.
The Seminoles will play the in the final round of the event Monday. This is the final event of the fall season for Florida State which has earned three top five finishes including the team championships at the season-opening GolfWeek Conference Challenge and at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate.
