Lauer Holds Top Spot In Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. - Senior Seath Lauer holds a one-stroke lead heading into Sunday's 18-hole final round at the Gary Koch Intercollegiate in Tampa, Fla. after carding a 66 and 67 on Saturday to keep the No. 6 ranked Seminoles within four shots of tournament leader Texas Tech.

Lauer opened the day with a six-under 66 as he finished the opening round in a tie for first before firing a five-under par 67 to keep pace with a record-setting Texas Tech squad. The Red Raiders set a tournament record in the opening round as they tallied a Gary Koch Intercollegiate record 271.

Florida State finished round one with a 274 as Brooks Koepka fired a 68, while the duo of Michael Hebert and Drew Kittleson each carded 70s.

The Seminoles trail Texas Tech by four shots but are in control of second place holding a six-shot lead over Florida, a seven-shot advantage over Virginia and a 10-shot lead over both Augusta State and Georgia Southern. Florida State carded a team total of 554 in the opening two rounds.

Doug Letson shot even par for the Seminoles in round one before shooting a one-over par 73 in the second round for a two-round total of 145 placing fourth on the team and a tie for 46th overall. Kittleson struggled on the second 18 as he shot a 78 dropping to fifth on the squad.

Koepka joined Lauer in the top 10 as he followed up his 68 with a 70 for a two-day total of 138. Not far behind was Michael Hebert who carded a pair of 70s for a tie for 18th overall.

Tee times for round 3 start at 8 a.m. as the Seminoles look for their second team victory of the season.
