WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Florida State University senior All-American Jonas Blixt shot a four-under par 68 in the second round to lead a Seminole resurgence during the afternoon at the PING/Golf Week Men's Golf Preview tournament on the Kampen Course at the Birk Boilermaker Golf Complex. The No. 8 ranked Seminoles shaved 21 strokes from their first round score and closed the day in 11th place in the team standings. Blixt recovered from an uncharacteristic 78 in the first round and improved by 10 strokes to move into a tie for 12th place in the individual standings.

Oklahoma State, ranked No. 7 in this week's Golf World / Nike Coaches' poll, is in first place with a three stroke lead over No. 9 ranked Charlotte heading into Sunday's third and final round. A total of 12 of the top 25 ranked teams are playing in the event which is set as a preview of the possible national championship participants on the course where the 2008 NCAA Championship will be played. Jonas Enander Hedin of Charlotte holds the individual lead with a 36-hole total of 140. He is one stroke ahead of teammate Stefan Wiedergruen with 18 holes remaining to be played.

Blixt (Hammaro, Sweden) played a near flawless golf in the second round with four birdies, 13 holes of par and only one bogey. He was under par for all but two holes - his first two which were both pars - during the round. Blixt has now carded scores of 68 or better in three of his first five rounds of the fall season. His second round was in stark contrast to his first round when he carded three bogeys and one triple bogey. He begins play only six strokes behind the individual lead as he looks to earn his second consecutive victory.

Seminole freshman Drew Kittleson (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was the Seminoles' most consistent player as he carded scores of 75 and 74 for a two-round total of 149. He improved his second round score by one stroke as compared to his first round total as he carded a two second round birdies (as compared to one in the first round) and lowered his bogey total to four in the second round (as compared to five in the first round).

Junior All-American Matt Savage (Louisville, Ky.) shot a one-under par 71 in the second round as he lowered his score by seven strokes from the first round and moved into a tie for 32nd place. After shooting a 78 in the first round he was in a tie for 52nd place - he improved by 20 positions in the individual standings. Savage carded 15 holes of par or better (with four birdies) in the second round as compared to only 11 holes of par or better (with only three birdies) in the first round. Savage was never above par during the entire second round of play.

Senior Tommy Rymer (Hastings, Minn.) and sophomore Seath Lauer (Huntington, Ind.) also played well in the second round and displayed a marked improvement over the second set of 18 holes. Rymer improved his score by two strokes as he carded a four-over par 76 in the second round. He earned 12 holes of par or better in the second round as compared to 11 holes at par or better in the first round. Lauer enjoyed a seven stroke improvement in the second round with three birdies and 10 holes of par.

"We had a rough start today but our guys showed me their desire and ability to come back against one of the best fields we will face this year," said Head Coach Trey Jones. "We can't spot shots to teams as good as the ones in this field but we have the opportunity to come back in the third round and see what we are made of."
