HUTCHINSON, Kan. - After enduring eight hours and ten minutes of weather delays, the first round of the NCAA Championship was suspended at the Prairie Dunes Country Club. The Florida State men's golf team is currently tied for sixth at 1-over par, four strokes behind first place Oregon.

Freshman Cristobal Del Solar leads the Seminoles at 2-under through nine holes and is tied for second in the individual standings. He birdied the short, uphill hole four. After a bogey on six, he bounced back with another birdie on the seventh hole. He finished the day with a birdie on the difficult hole nine and was heading to the 10th hole when play was halted for the final time.

Three Seminoles, freshman Jack Maguire and sophomores Hank Lebioda and Rowin Caron, are sitting at 1-over par. Maguire started the morning with a bogey on one but played even par golf the rest of the day. Maguire had a huge save for par on the seventh hole when his shot landed in the tall grass next to the green. He chipped it out and putted the ball in his last hole of the day.

Lebioda also started the day with a bogey on the uphill hole one. He recovered with a birdie on the fourth hole and was playing even par golf until a bogey on his last hole, the eighth. Caron managed to make it through 10 holes and was a 1-under through the front nine. When the rain started to come down, he double bogeyed the 10th hole with play stopping moments later.

Senior Joaquin Lolas is 2-over par through 11 holes. He carded all pars until a double bogey on eight. After the turn, he made a birdie on 10 and then bogeyed 11 to finish the day.

Play resumes Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. Central time. After pushing the first tee times back 40 minutes, the Seminoles were able to play for an hour and 20 minutes until the horns were sound signaling the players back into the clubhouse.

After a five our delay, the teams were sent back on the course playing for about 85 minutes until weather once again sent the teams off the course. After waiting for over two hours, play was then suspended for the day.
