NEW LONDON, N.C. - The Seminoles came out with their best round of the ACC Championship on Sunday but came up short to finish second to Georgia Tech. The No. 19-ranked Florida State men's golf team carded an 11-under at the Old North State Club on Sunday for a three-day total of 19-under 845. Three Seminoles finished the tournament in the top 10.

"I don't feel like we lost this golf tournament," said head coach Trey Jones. "I feel like Georgia Tech played a great round at a time where they needed it. We did what we could do, but they just played a better round than we did today.

"I'm happy with our guys; we did a lot of good things out there. We hung in there; we talked about it before we went out that if we get off to a slow start how to handle it. We did get off to a slow start and they handled it beautifully for a young team."

Freshman Jack Maguire posted his best round of the tournament to move up five spots and finish tied for fourth. His 5-under 67 on Sunday placed him at 210 for the weekend after making six birdies on the day. Maguire's tee shot landed in the trees on the second hole, but his next shot landed on the green which allowed him to putt the ball in for birdie. He followed up with back-to-back birdies on seven and eight to finish the front nine at 3-under.

Sophomore Hank Lebioda started the day playing even par golf until the 12th hole when he made birdie. A bogey on 14 set him back to par until the last hole which he birdied after chipping the ball onto the green a foot away from the pin. He finished the tournament tied for fourth place with a three day score of 210.

Redshirt freshman Cristobal Del Solar earned his second top ten finish of the year with a 4-under 212 on the tournament. His best round of the week came on Sunday as he turned in a 3-under 69 after making four birdies on the day.

Senior Joaquin Lolas finished the tournament tied for 18th after a 2-under 70 on Sunday. After a bogey on eight, he turned in three straight birdies to bring him to 2-under. After another bogey on 17, his second shot on 18 ended on the fringe which he proceeded to send close to the hole and putted for birdie. He finished the tournament with a 1-under 215.

Sophomore Rowin Caron turned in a 1-under 71 Sunday to finish the tournament with a 1-over 217 which tied for 23rd. After a double bogey on six, he birdied the short, downhill hole seven to put himself back on par. Caron finished the back nine 1-under after a birdie on 18.

"They know what it takes to win this kind of golf tournament now," continued Jones. "We'll learn from it without a question. Hats off to Georgia Tech for the way they played today. Their experience paid off. I'm extremely proud of our guys. It was a great week for us, we played well; we just got beat."
