NEW LONDON, N.C. - Florida State University freshman Bradley Ruch carded a one-under par 71 and is in a tie for 15th place in the individual standings and the Seminole men's golf team is in a tie for seventh in the team standings after two rounds of the 51st annual Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Old North State Golf Club at Uhwarrie Point. Ruch improved his individual standing nine positions from his 24th place finish after round one.

Clemson, ranked No. 2 in this week's GolfWeek/Sagarin power rankings, surged into first place in the team standings with a 13-under par team score of 275. The Tigers begin third round play with a six stroke lead over NC State and 10 stroke advantage over Wake Forest. Clemson's Jack Ferguson, who is ranked as the 13th best individual collegiate player in the nation, assumed individual medalist honors as he carded a five-under par 67and leads Sean Moore or Wake Forest by one stroke heading into the third and final round.

Ruch (Lexington, Ken.) who joined the team as a walk-on last fall, led the Seminoles as one of 11 golfers in the event who carded a below par score during the second round. It marked the third time this spring Ruch had carded a sub-par round. His career-best of 69 came during the second round of the Atlanta Intercollegiate March 29. Ruch is playing in his first career ACC Championship.

Ruch leads a parade of five Seminole golfers all within five strokes of each other in the individual standings.

Junior Alan Beers (Warner Robins, Ga.) is the second ranking Seminole with a 146 total for the first 36 holes and a tied for 19th-place individual standing. Beers led Florida State with an even par 72 in the first round and finished with a two-over par 74 in round two. Junior Rusty Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) carded an even par 72 in round two and moved into a tie for 25th place in the individual standings with a 147 total.

A pair of juniors - Mark Sestilio (Punta Gorda, Fla.) and Matt Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) also played well for the Seminoles in the second round and carded identical two-over par scores of 74. Sestilio has now carded consecutive scores of 74 and is in a tie for 31st place with a 148 total while Adcock is in a tie for 36th place with a 150 total.

The final round of the event is scheduled to begin at 8:30 Sunday morning.
