AUBURN, Ala. -- The Florida State men's golf team fired a final-round 294 to finish in sixth place at the Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate at the Saugahatchee Country Club in Auburn, AL. The Seminole team score of 877 was two strokes behind South Carolina and five back of Arkansas.
Senior George McNeill finished in second place, five strokes behind winner Michael Morrison of Georgia. McNeill carded a final-round 71 to finish with a three-day total of six-under par 210. It marked the second straight top five finish for McNeill and the third top 15 finish in a row.
Mark Monroe, a junior from Springfield, MO, carded three consecutive rounds of 72 to finish tied for ninth place. Barry Dyche repeated a second-round score of 76 on Sunday to finish tied for 29th. Jason Pool ended the tournament at +10 and tied for 34th at 226. Nathan Bertsch rounded out the scoring for the Seminoles with a three-round total of 229 and alone in 46th place.
The University of Georgia won the tournament, beating host Auburn by 18 strokes.
The Seminoles will travel to the ACC Championships next weekend in Uwharrie Point, NC.
