TAMPA, Fla. - The Seminoles came firing off the tee box to post a two-round 21-under 555 to lead the Gary Koch Invitational. Freshman Rowin Caron leads the tournament with two straight 68s at the Old Memorial Golf Club. The No. 18 men's golf team played the first two rounds Monday, April 8.

The Seminoles were in first place after the first round when they turned in a 10-under 278. The team posted an 11-under 277 second round. Florida State holds a one stroke lead over Georgia Tech in the 14-team field and is eight strokes ahead of third place Auburn. The Noles finish the tournament Tuesday morning with a 9:25 a.m. tee time.

"The guys prepared well for this event," said head coach Trey Jones. "They executed well, held their composure when challenged and competed all day today. We needed to get off to a good start to have a chance and we did that today. We will need to play a very good round to have a chance to win the tournament tomorrow."

Caron leads the tournament after both the first and second rounds today. He carded an 8-under 136 and is tied with Georgia Tech's Shun Yat Hak. Senior Chase Seiffert turned in a 1-under 71 this morning before improving to a 68 in the second round. He sits in fourth place with a 5-under 139.

One stroke behind Seiffert is sophomore Daniel Berger who is tied with three others in fifth place. Berger posted a 3-under 69 in the first round and currently sits with a four-under 140. Just one stroke behind him is senior Doug Letson and junior Joaquin Lolas. Letson posted a 70, then a 71 for a 3-under 141 while Lolas posted a 71, then a 70. Lolas is playing as an individual in the tournament.

Rounding out the team is freshman Hank Lebioda who is tied for 20th. The southpaw carded a 2-over 74 in the first round but improved in the second with a 2-under 70. He has a two-round total of an even 144.

The Seminoles are part of a 14-team field including No. 8 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Florida, No. 19 North Florida, No. 20 Auburn, No. 26 Wake Forest, No. 50 Georgia Southern, College of Charleston, Jacksonville, Kentucky, Ohio State, Pacific, South Florida and UNCG.
