FRANKLIN, Tenn. - After turning in a 5-under 66 Saturday, freshman Jack Maguire leads the Mason Rudolph Men's Championships at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The 12th-ranked Florida State men's golf team is in 10th place through two rounds in the 14-team field. The team tees off at 8:15 a.m. CT from hole 10 on Sunday.
"You have to drive the ball to score," said head coach Trey Jones. "The greens are firm and require precise iron shots to get the ball close. We are hitting all over the course off the tee, we need to do a better job of not carrying a bad shot into the next shot."
With the team starting on the 10th hole, No. 26 Maguire started the day with a birdie and closed out the first nine holes 2-under par. After making the turn, he yet again posted a birdie on hole one and finished the day with birdie on 9 to finish the day with a 5-under 66. Maguire has a one stroke lead with a two-day 5-under 137.
"Jack is playing like a first team All-American," continued Jones. "This is four tournaments in a row he has put himself in a position to win going into the final round."
Tied with Lolas is freshman Josh Lee who posted a 7-over 78. Sophomore Rowin Caron is tied for 75th with an 18-over 160. Playing as an individual, freshman Cristobal Del Solar is 17-over after a 7-over 78 on Saturday, tied for 71st.
