FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Through one round of golf, the No. 12-ranked Florida State men's golf team sits tied for 10th place after a 16-over 300 at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The team tees off the second round at 8:15 a.m. CT from the 10th hole on Saturday.
"This is a good opportunity for the coaches to coach and a great opportunity for the players to learn," said head coach Trey Jones. "This is the first round this year where we have played this poorly. Tomorrow is a good chance to see how we handle adversity."
With rain coming in the night before, play was pushed back a few hours. The team faced some early adversity with everyone over par the first nine holes.
Freshman Jack Maguire carded an even par 71 after closing the round with two straight birdies and is tied for ninth as he leads the team.
Tied for 15th and one stroke behind Maguire is sophomore Hank Lebioda. After posting a 3-over on the front nine, he turned up his play and turned in a 2-under on the back nine, including an eagle on 18, and finished with a 72.
Tied for 59th is sophomore Rowin Caron who shot a 78 while freshman Josh Lee, tied for 64th, contributed a 79 to the team score. Senior Joaquin Lolas is tied for 69th with a 9-over 80 while redshirt freshman Cristobal Del Solar, playing as an individual, is tied for 72nd with an 81.
