AWENDAW, S.C. - The Florida State men's golf team is in a tie for sixth place after the first 18 holes of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Invitational at the Bulls Bay Golf Club. Seminole sophomore Jonas Blixt is in a tie for fourth place in the individual standings after shooting a two-under par 69 while teammate Tommy Rymer is in a tie for 13th after carding an even par 71 in the first round. Wake Forest, currently ranked 34th in the nation, holds the team lead after the first 18 holes with a 275 total. The Demon Deacons are four strokes better than South Carolina, 13 strokes ahead of third-place North Carolina, and 18 better than the Seminoles. Eirik Tage Johansen of South Carolina holds the individual lead with a four-under par total of 67 through the first 18 holes. Blixt (Hammaro, Sweden) is the Seminoles' individual lead with a first-round score of 69 - his best score of the fall 2005 and spring 2006 seasons. He played a very consistent round with par or better scores on 17 of the 18 holes during the round. Blixt birdied three holes and was over-par on only one hole during the round. Rymer (Hastings, Minn.) played even par golf during the round and saved his best for the final hole with an eagle two on the 18th hole to finish at 71. His eagle on the final hole allowed him to play the back nine at one under and finish the round at even par. Rymer carded his career-best of 67 in the third round of the Lexus/Naples Intercollegiate on Feb. 28.
