GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida State University junior Jonas Blixt is in second place and the Florida State men's golf team is fourth place in the team standings after the first two rounds of the SunTrust Gator Invitational at the University of Florida Golf Course. Blixt and the Seminoles will begin play in Sunday's third and final round of the event only two strokes out of the individual and team leads.

Blixt carded a two round total of three-under par 137 and trails Manuel Villegas of Florida by two strokes. Florida State is one stroke behind Georgia Southern for third place. The Seminoles trail first place Wake Forest by three strokes and in-state rival Florida by two strokes. Blixt is looking to win the Gator Invitational for the second time in his career - he earned medalist honors at the event in 2005.

Blixt played well from the start of the first round and was consistent all day long. His first round score of even par 70 included three bogies and 11 holes of par. Blixt was never more than one stroke over par in the first round and held an even score over only two holes and was as many as four stokes under par in the second round on the Par 70 course which measures 6,701 yards. He played only five of his 36 rounds on the day over par.

Seminole freshman Cameron Knight is in position to earn his first career top-10 finish with his two-round score of two-over par 142. He is in 11th place in the individual standings heading into the third round. Knight shot an even par score of 70 in round one and a two-over par 72 in round two. His score in the second round included an eagle three on the par 5 hole No. 12.

Seath Lauer, the second of two freshmen in the Seminole lineup for the season opener, is in a tie for 29th place with a five over par score of 145. He shot a two-over par score of 72 in round one and a three-over par score of 73 in the second round.

The third and final round of 18 holes is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.
