Florida State Ready for the Swamp

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 1/2 Florida State practiced with simulated crowd noise for 15 periods in Doak Campbell Stadium this evening in preparation for this Saturday's CBS nationally televised in-state showdown with No. 10 Florida in Gainesville.

"We've done everything we wanted to do this week," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "Now we got to out there and play the ball game. It really looks like we're in pretty good shape. Samari (Rolle) has gotten better everyday and (Marvin) Minnis has practiced the last two days. We're in good shape. It looks like we'll be going down there in the best shape in awhile. We did what we planned to do and came out with no new injuries. We came out today in better shape today than we were on Monday."

The team started practice with kickoff and punting coverages and drills, then broke off into offensive and defensive segments.

The latest issue of Football News listed their FULL list of All-American teams and among the FSU honorees were: First Team, Andre Wadsworth (DE) and Sam Cowart (LB); Second Team, E.G. Green (WR); Third Team, Thad Busby (QB), Kevin Long (C) and Samari Rolle (CB); Honorable Mention, Tra Thomas (OL) and Daryl Bush (LB).

Football News' All-ACC selections were led by the ACC Player of the Year, Wadsworth. The rest of the FSU conference picks were Busby, E.G. Green, Long and Thomas on offense. Wadsworth, Cowart, Rolle and Shevin Smith were selected on defense.

The injury report for the Saturday's Florida game is: Probable, Samari Rolle (ankle), Sebastian Janikowski (flu), Vannez Gooch (right charlie horse); Questionable, Marvin Minnis (AC separation).

"Everyone should play," said head trainer Randy Oravetz.
