Long, Spires, Minor Earn ACC Weekly Honors
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Three Florida State football players earned ACC Player of the Week honors today for their performances in the Seminoles' 20-3 win over North Carolina last Saturday.
Senior center Kevin Long was named ACC offensive lineman of the week. The Summerville, SC native graded out at 95 percent to lead a line that did not allow a sack of Seminole quarterback Thad Busby. Long was also credited with five intimidations and was named blocker of the week by the Florida State coaching staff.
Spires was the league's defensive lineman of the week after his four-sack night against the Tar Heels. The senior defensive end from Fort Myers was also credited with five tackles and forced a fumble as the Seminole defense limited UNC to just 73 yards of total offense.
Minor was honored as rookie of the week for the third straight time after rushing 30 times for 128 yards. The Baton Rouge native piled up 98 yards in the second half and has run for 349 yards in his last three games.
