Seminoles Continue Practice During Bye Week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The No. 4 Florida State Seminoles continued practice during their open week in preparation for their October 4th meeting with the Miami Hurricanes.
The squad practiced for 21 periods in shells. The Tribe worked on special teams before the session, including punt block and punt coverage drills. The Seminoles scrimmaged for 10 minutes in the middle of the practice followed by agilities and team skeleton drills.
"We spent a lot of time on trying to get better at what we're doing," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "It's just mistakes. We're lining up wrong, blocking the wrong man. One-of-12 on third-down conversions on offensive production just doesn't do it. There's a lack of execution."
"If we can block and tackle better and stop missing assignments -- we've gotta correct us," said Bowden.
Tailback Dee Feaster sat out of today's practice with bruised ribs.
"Dee Feaster is the No. 1 tailback, but he's not going to practice this week," said Bowden. "Davy Ford will be the No. 1 right now, but if Dee is healthy, he's our No. 1 and will start. I hope he's able to come back."
"We've got to see Ford because he didn't get into the (Clemson) game. We feel like we need to see him."
Florida State defensive end Andre Wadsworth has been selected as a 1997 Burger King College Football Scholarship Award winner. Florida State will receive a $10,000 donation in Wadsworth's name to the school's general scholarship fund.

FSU linebacker Daryl Bush was a 1996 recipient of the award.
