FSU's Cowart & Wadsworth Earn ACC Football Honors
TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Florida State's defense took top honors this week as defensive end Andre Wadsworth and linebacker Sam Cowart earned Atlantic Coast Conference Players of the Week in voting by a special panel representing the media of the league schools. Wadsworth, making his first start at end after moving from noseguard, recorded eight tackles, including four solo stops as he earned defensive lineman honors. The senior from Miami, Fla., also had a tackle for loss and two sacks against the Trojans in FSU's 14-7 victory. Wadsworth also had a team-high three intimidations. Cowart, in his first game back after reconstructive knee surgery, made a team-high and career-high 18 tackles, including 12 solo stops to earn the defensive backs/linebackers award. Cowart, a senior from Jacksonville, Fla., also shared a sack with Lamont Green and was credited with an intimidation and a team-high four knock 'em backs. |
