Florida State Continues Preparation for Season Opener
TALLAHASSEE, FL -- The No. 3 Florida State Seminoles continued to prepare for their matchup with No. 21 Southern California on Sept. 6th with an 18 period practice in shorts.
"We tried to rehearse everthing today," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "We did a pretty good job, but there are still some busted assignments, busted coverages and busted plays. We've only got one more day to get everything perfected."
The team began the session with punting and field goal drills and then split up into offensive and defensive groups to work against the scout team.
The punting game continues to be a close race.
"It's very close between those two (Bill Gramatica and Keith Cottrell)," commented Bowden. "You could nearly flip a coin. Cottrell seems to have the potential, but tends to kick a low ball now and then. It will be a good battle all year. Today, I think it would be Gramatica (who would start)."
Germaine Stringer will most likely return kickoffs, along with Laveranues Coles and Vannez Gooch. Peter Warrick and Dexter Jackson have been working on punt returns.
There were no new injuries today.
